The Science
The Science Behind Our Formula
Real odour control, grounded in biology — not fragrance.
Body odour isn’t a hygiene issue. It’s a biochemical process. As an Australian medical scientist, I built this deodorant by studying that process in detail — and designing a formula that stops odour at its source.
1. Sweat Doesn’t Smell — Bacteria Create Odour
Human sweat is naturally odourless. The smell comes from skin bacteria breaking down specific molecules found in apocrine sweat. When these molecules are metabolised, they release volatile compounds responsible for the characteristic underarm odour.
Our formula targets this step directly by neutralising the odour-forming compounds before bacteria can convert them.
2. The ABCC11 Gene: Why Some People Don’t Get BO
A small percentage of people naturally produce little to no underarm odour due to a genetic variant in the ABCC11 gene.
Those with the variant produce sweat that lacks the odour-forming precursors, meaning bacteria have nothing to break down.
This same variant also causes dry earwax, which is why earwax type is a reliable indicator of odour potential.
- The "no odour" genotype is very common in East Asian populations.
- It is uncommon in Europeans, Africans, Middle Eastern populations, and Australians.
3. What This Means for You
Understanding this genetic difference highlights an important truth: sweat itself doesn’t smell — bacteria create odour by breaking down specific compounds in sweat.
Our deodorant is designed to replicate this natural advantage — giving you the same odour-free confidence through science, not perfume.
4. How Our Formula Works
Step 1 — Targets odour-forming molecules.
Neutralises the compounds bacteria (not your sweat) rely on, preventing odour before it starts.
Step 2 — Supports a healthy skin microbiome.
Maintains balance without harsh chemicals or antibacterial agents.
Step 3 — Gentle, fragrance-free protection.
No masking. No irritation. Just clean, lasting performance.
5. Two Variants, Engineered for Real Life
Everyday Natural Deodorant (Black colour): For daily wear, mild to warm weather, and sensitive skin.
Sport & Summer Defence (Green colour): For athletes, heavy sweaters, and Australia’s hot, humid climate.
